Put the whole job on the clock

For an evaluation, divide a representative job into preparation, loading, alignment, cutting, unloading, identification, and transfer. Ask the demonstrator to show which activities overlap in the proposed configuration. Record waiting separately from active work. A fast cutting sequence does not establish how quickly your particular job can leave the cell.

Bring the kind of work that makes your own schedule difficult: a large island, several small pieces, or a project with substantial miter work. Identify the slab, drawing revision, and intended finished parts before comparing demonstrations. Otherwise, changes to the test job can disappear inside an impressive-looking time comparison.

Draw the surrounding work

Request the installation layout and mark the proposed staging and unloading areas with the supplier. Include the people who will load the cell and receive its output in this discussion. Ask what must be ready before the next job begins and who checks that readiness.

The useful result is a record of the demonstrated configuration, the complete job sequence, and the remaining questions. It is not a promise that a different shop will achieve the same throughput. Installation and operating requirements must come from the manufacturer for the exact machine.
