Use separate research tracks

Maintain one list for material sourcing, another for equipment, and another for technical education. For each proposed visit or article, write the decision it should help a shop make. A machine demonstration and a material-selection meeting call for different evidence and different people in the conversation.

Record the exact event edition and the source confirming an exhibitor's participation. Link a product story to its own documentation. Avoid attaching a current catalog to an earlier show merely because the company attended both.

Bring back usable records

For equipment, retain the configuration discussed, the sample job, and the unanswered questions. For materials, retain product identity, proposed application, technical-document references, and the supplier's follow-up. For education, record the subject and source of the lesson before turning it into advice for another shop.
