Start with the process map
Identify the operation that limits completed work today. Is material waiting to be cut, are shaped pieces waiting for routing, or are finished pieces waiting for inspection and installation? A faster machine at a non-limiting stage can increase work in progress without increasing completed jobs.
Use a recent sample of jobs and record the operations each required. Separate straight cutting, work assigned to the waterjet, routing and finishing as appropriate to your process. Have qualified production staff review the classifications. This is a planning exercise, not a substitute for an application review or machine instructions.
Compare roles before comparing models
Park describes VOYAGER XP as a CNC saw, JAVELIN and SABERjet XL as sawjets, and TITAN as a router series. BACA describes Robo SawJet 2.0 as a robotic sawjet. These labels identify different equipment roles and architectures; they are not a ranking or evidence that one machine replaces all the others.

Measure the whole demonstration
Provide a representative job packet and agree what the vendor will demonstrate. Record preparation, setup, loading, machine operation, unloading and inspection separately. State who performed each task and whether it was included in the observed time. A cutting clip alone cannot establish completed-job throughput.
Do not combine measurements from different materials, operators or configurations into a single leaderboard. If the candidates cannot run the same practice work, explain the difference and retain separate results. The useful comparison may be a documented application fit rather than a shared speed figure.
Inspect the next queue
Ask what reaches the next operation and in what condition. A change in cutting output can require additional routing, handling or assembly resources. Have the next department review the demonstration result and the expected arrival rate. Include the space needed for work in progress in the layout discussion.
Staffing also belongs in the application review. Identify who prepares programs, checks tooling, handles exceptions and covers absences. A planned second shift needs a support and training arrangement, not just additional operating hours on a spreadsheet.
Keep configuration history
Record the full model designation, options, software version and quotation date. Family names may cover multiple generations. Current descriptions of an XL or 4000-series machine should not be applied to an older used unit without confirmation.
Finish the evaluation with a written list of accepted applications and unresolved issues. Retain the supplier’s technical requirements with the purchasing record. The decision is strongest when it explains how the equipment fits the whole shop, including the work and responsibilities that remain outside the machine.
